Appointment Scheduling Information

  • Spring 2026 Drop-In Advising (No Appointment Required):
    • Monday, January 12th through Friday, January 16th AND Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
    • CLOSED Monday January 19, 2026 in observance of Martin Luther King Jr. Day (non-instructional day)
    • Hours: 9:00am to 12:00pm and 1:00pm to 3:00pm
    • How to Meet With an Advisor: Students may drop in for in-person advising at the Queen Liliʻuokalani Center for Student Services, Room 101, or meet virtually via Zoom by visiting the STAR Balance kiosk (click below).
    • Appointments: Regular advising appointments will be released by the end of the day on January 20, 2026. Until then, advanced appointments will not be available.

  • MAC offers both face-to-face and Zoom appointments.
  • You can only book appointments up to 7 days in advance. If no appointments are showing, it means all available times are filled. New appointment slots open every day at midnight HST, so check back the next morning for additional availability.
    • If you have a time sensitive question or issue and would like to reach an advisor as soon as possible, please contact us by email at macadv@hawaii.edu.
  • Declared Exploratory Pathway students (EX, EXAH, EXB, EXHS, EXSS, or EXST) should book appointments with a MAC advisor online through STAR Balance (link below).
  • Students can cancel their scheduled appointment up to one hour before the appointment start time using STAR Balance. If you need to cancel an appointment that starts in less than 1 hour, please call our Front Desk Student Assistants to request a cancellation: (808) 956-7273.
  • No Show” Policy: Students who do not attend, or are more than 10 minutes late for their appointment, will be marked as a “No Show.” After the second “No Show” for the semester, students will have their appointment scheduling privileges suspended for two weeks. Each subsequent No Show will result in another two-week suspension of scheduling privileges.
  • If this is your first time meeting with an an academic advisor at MAC, please complete the MAC Advisee Information Form AFTER you have scheduled an appointment (click below) to help your advisor get to know a little more about you and your academic goals.
  • Non-MAC students (those who are not or not yet officially declared exploratory) should email macadv@hawaii.edu, or call our office during our front desk hours of operation (09:00 am – 03:00 pm HST on weekdays, except on observed holidays) to book an appointment.

Appointment Expectations

  • To help you get the most out of your advising session (whether in person or online), please:
    • Plan for up to 30 minutes per appointment.
    • Have your UH Mānoa student ID number ready for verification.
    • Bring or upload any forms you may need during your appointment.
    • Come prepared with a list of questions or topics you’d like to discuss.
    • If you are meeting online,
      • log in to your STAR GPS account before your session
      • make sure you have a reliable internet connection
      • plan ahead to be in a quiet location free from distractions.
    • If you would like a parent, family member, or another person to be present for your appointment, a FERPA Release Form must be submitted in advance to authorize us to share your educational information. Please submit forms to macadv@hawaii.edu.
    • After your session, you will receive a short evaluation by email. Please take a few minutes to complete it as your feedback helps us improve our services.
