Nagano Isamu is a second-generation wig maker and stylist, who works with kabuki as well as TV and film. Based in Osaka, he both builds wig structures as well as styles the hair, a rare combination as these jobs are usually done by two different specialists. He also is one of the few wig specialists working today who is adept at repairing old wigs. His wife, Yoko, assisted him in the April 2023 workshop to train UH staff and students in how to properly fit a wig to each individual head, maintain the hairstyles through a run of a show, and begin learning how to fashion a simpler male and female hairstyle.
