- The MHRT Program provides directed reading coursework at UH Mānoa where students learn to conduct research.
- Undergraduates/post-baccalaureate students conduct an 8 to 10 week summer research project.
- Graduate students conduct a 3+ month research project.
- Topics focus on national and international community based participatory research, socio-behavioral research, research in tropical medicine, infectious diseases and related health sciences.
PROGRAM BENEFITS
- Stipend while conducting summer research and funds for research supplies.
- Earn up to 10 credits of directed research courses in the Spring and Summer semesters.
- Life changing research and cultural experiences while conducting out-of-state research (conditional)
ELIGIBILITY
Students from all academic disciplines are encouraged to apply.
- US Citizens and permanent residents
- Undergraduate and Graduate students
- Must be either from:
- Under-represented minority group
- Socioeconomically disadvantaged background
- Rural areas
- Other underrepresented groups in education and research
