PhD-Epidemiology student, Mika Thompson is the lead author of an article "Gene–obesogenic environment interactions on body mass indices for older black and white men and women from the Health and Retirement Study". This study of older adults provides further evidence of genetic contributions to obesity, while also showing that vigorous physical activity, especially in women, may reduce some of the obesogenic consequences of genetic predisposition.
