Hamilton Library Implements Paging System for Normal Circulation Items

UH students, faculty and staff now allowed limited access to library items

Nearly two weeks after Hamilton Library closed its doors and halted services due to damages caused by a flash flood, the library today has launched a "paging" system for students, faculty and staff to request and borrow normal circulation items. The paging system will run from 10 a.m. — 3 p.m., Monday to Friday, until library services are fully restored.

With the exception of journals and reference books, items can be searched by visiting Hawaiʻi Voyager, the library‘s online catalog, at http://libweb.hawaii.edu/uhmlib/index.htm. Library patrons can print out the record or note the item and call number and visit the library to put in the request. Entrance to the building will be on Maile Way through the library‘s loading dock area where there is an area set up for patrons to fill out a request form.

"Runners will be sent to retrieve the materials in the library‘s stacks, and in about two hours, patrons can return to the library to pick up their items," said Jean Ehrhorn, associate librarian for UH Mānoa.

Hamilton Library staff expects Hawaiʻi Voyager to be fully restored next week.
