Center for Chinese Studies Announces Chung Fong and Grace Ning Fund Awards

The University of Hawaiʻi at Manoa is proud to announce the latest awards presented to graduate students and faculty members of the university from the Chung Fong & Grace Ning Fund for Chinese Studies. The fund benefits graduate students and faculty members with China-focused academic projects by providing support for conference or research travel; purchase of books, materials, or supplies; and hiring student assistance.

The latest award winners include:

Xing Fan, a doctoral student in Theatre & Dance, will conduct his dissertation on field research in Beijing, Shanghai, Jinan, and Nanjing.

Katsuhiro Ota, East Asian Languages & Literature, presented "Problems Associated with the Standardization of Writing of Hokkien" at the International Conference on Taiwanese Romanization held in Taipei, Taiwan.

Shuhui Su, East Asian Languages & Literature , will present "Modality Adverbs and Chinese Pedagogy" at the annual conference of the Chinese Language Teachers Association to be held on Nov. 19-21 in Chicago, IL.
