Search begins for new dean at School of Hawaiian Knowledge

The University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa Office of the Chancellor and Office of the Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs have formed a 12-person search advisory committee to help select a new dean for the Hawai‘inuiākea School of Hawaiian Knowledge. 

“Hawai‘inuiākea is one of the premier schools of its kind in the world, and one of the jewels of UH Mānoa," said Interim Chancellor David Lassner.

Added Interim Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs Michael Bruno, “The next dean will be critical to our success and we are very thankful to the members of the search advisory committee for committing their time and energy to this critical task. We look forward to a successful search.”

Peter Arnade, dean of the College of Arts and Humanities, will chair the search advisory committee, whose members include faculty, staff and students from Hawai‘inuiākea, as well as representatives from other UH Mānoa units, Kualiˈi Council and the community-at-large.   

The committee will screen applicants, then recommend and assess finalists for the position.  Interim VCAA Bruno will recommend a selectee to Interim Chancellor Lassner.
