A team of advisers will answer questions about how, why, what, when and where to apply to law school during Pre-Law Week late in September on the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa campus.

Interested in applying but don’t quite know how, or how you can finance it? Curious about how the LSAT (Law School Admissions Test) works, how to prep and when? Want to hear from new lawyers about the career they’ve chosen? This is for you.

Here’s the schedule prepared by the UHM Pre-Law Advising Center:

  • How to apply: Tuesday, September 20, 5:30 to 7 p.m. UHM, Webster Hall Room 104. This workshop offers a comprehensive breakdown of important dates, procedures and strategies. It’s specifically aimed at assisting students planning to enter in Fall 2018. RSVP: here
  • What is the LSAT?: Thursday, September 22, 5:30 to 7 p.m. UHM, Webster Hall Room 104. This LSAT workshop offers everything you need to know about the exam needed for Law School applications, as well as the GRE. Will answer questions about how the LSAT is administered, what score is needed for admittance, and how best to prepare. RSVP: here
  • New Lawyers Panel: Tuesday, September 27, 5:30 to 7 p.m. UHM, Webster Hall Room 104. This panel answers questions about what lawyers do day-to-day, how they feel about the bar exam, and offers insight into career options, and tips about starting out in the legal field. RSVP: here
  • Financing your legal education: Thursday, September 29, 5:30 to 7 p.m. UHM, Webster Hall Room 104. If you want to attend Law School but are unsure about how to finance it, the William S. Richardson School of Law Financial Aid Manager will answer questions about financial aid options, including scholarships, grants, loans and how to navigate the financial aid application process. RSVP: here

Said William S. Richardson Law School Admissions Director Elisabeth Steele Hutchison, "Applicants in Hawai‘i are very fortunate to have access to these kinds of events. Pre-Law Advising Center Director Dr. Kiana Shiroma and the Richardson students who work as pre-law peer advisers are fantastic!"

The Richardson JD application will become available on October 1, 2016 at www.lsac.org.  The priority admissions deadline is February 1, 2017, and the final admissions deadline is July 1, 2017.
