CTAHR Termite Experts Present Public Information Seminar

The Hawaiʻi Area-Wide Termite Suppression Project of the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa‘s College of Tropical Agriculture and Human Resources presents a series of free termite information seminars for the public with the next one scheduled for Tuesday, February 17, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at Kalaheo High School through the Windward Community School for Adults.

Homeowners who register to attend will find out interesting facts about these wood-eating insects including termite identification and biology, and gain tips on how to prevent and control them from UH termite experts. Participants will also be able to ask and get answers to questions regarding termites and their homes.

The Hawaiʻi Area-Wide Termite Suppression Project addresses research, extension and instruction, and brings UH scientists together with the community in an effort to control termite damage to residences and public buildings. Termites are a serious problem throughout Hawaiʻi with costs to Hawaiʻi residents estimated to exceed $100 million annually to control and repair termite damage, and repairs to public schools estimated at $241 million.
