U.S. News & World Report has ranked UH Mānoa Nursing among the nation’s best graduate nursing programs. UH Mānoa Nursing tied for 83rd place out of 246 ranked schools – placing the program in the top third percentile. Previously, UH Mānoa Nursing was ranked in 99th place.

The U.S. News & World Report 2016 Best Graduate Nursing Schools ranking of master’s and doctoral degree programs in nursing assessed quality through student selectivity and achievement, faculty resources and research activity. More than 500 nursing programs accredited by either the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education or the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing were invited to participate, but only 246 were ranked.

Said Nursing Dean Mary Boland, “Strong graduate nursing education is key to ensuring the delivery of quality health care in Hawai‘i. Our focus on advanced practice and doctoral education provides RNs access to the lifelong learning needed for success in fast-paced high technology care environments."

The newly expanded nursing school rankings – the first ratings of their kind to use reputational and statistical indicators – offer guidance to the increasing number of nurses interested in advanced practice, teaching and gaining specialized skills. Nursing is one of six categories of Best Graduate Programs, including business, law, education, engineering and medicine.

Additionally, in January 2015, U.S. News & World Report ranked UH Mānoa Nursing 70th out of 133 online graduate nursing programs. The 2015 Best Online Programs rankings include essential, detailed statistical information on more than 1,200 programs nationwide. The U.S. News Best Online Programs rankings are the only distance learning rankings available that evaluate specific programs. Prospective students can use the rankings to gauge program quality, and use the searchable directory to explore additional information on such factors as tuition, program offerings and online services offered to enrolled students.
