University of Hawaii Presents "UH Day at the State Capitol"

Faculty, staff and students to showcase programs from across the university system

WHAT: "UH Day at the State Capitol," a celebration of the University of Hawaiʻi system showcasing the exceptional programs and talents from all 10 university campuses at the Hawaiʻi State Capitol.

WHEN: Thursday, January 22, 10 a.m. — 2 p.m.

WHERE: Hawaiʻi State Capitol, 4th Floor

BACKGROUND:

"UH Day at the State Capitol" offers legislators an opportunity to meet UH faculty, staff and students, and to view a variety of displays and exhibits that will showcase the excellence and diversity of the University of Hawaiʻi system.

Throughout the event, legislators, staff and the public are invited to visit the booths and exhibits featuring programs from each of the 10 university campuses. Representatives from the UH Student Caucus, a system group of student government leaders, will have booths as well as the Associated Students of the University of Hawaiʻi and the Kapiʻolani Community College Student Caucus.

Some of the programs that will be featured include:

o UH Mānoa — Various colleges and programs including Colleges of Arts & Sciences; College of Education; Center on Disability Studies; Cancer Research Center of Hawaiʻi; Library Services; College of Engineering; Institute for Astronomy; School of Hawaiian, Asian & Pacific Studies; School of Nursing & Dental Hygiene; John A. Burns School of Medicine; and others.

o UH Hilo — The campus will highlight plans for its proposed Student Life and Event Complex and Science and Technology Building, as well as highlight its University Park of Science and Technology and the Hawaiʻi Innovation Center at Hilo.

o UH West Oʻahu

o UH Community Colleges — All seven community colleges—Hawaiʻi, Honolulu, Kapiʻolani, Kauaʻi, Leeward, Maui and Windward—will have exhibits on display featuring information on their unique programs. The Pacific Center for Advanced Technology Training (PCATT), a consortium of the UH Community Colleges that develops and provides training in advanced technology applications, and the Culinary Institute of the Pacific will also be featured.

o University Centers — Located on Kauaʻi, Maui and in West Hawaiʻi, the University Centers identify and serve the unique higher education needs of their respective island communities by offering baccalaureate and graduate programs delivered via various distance learning modes.
