Cancer Survivor and World War II Veteran Tom Mastin to Speak About the "Positive Side" of Cancer at UH Manoa

Mastin to participate in part II of

HONOLULU — The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa‘s Counseling and Student Development Center (CSDC) and Campus Center Meetings & Events Services presents part II of the "UH Breaking Bread Together to Make a Difference Speakers Series" with an inspirational talk by guest speaker Tom Mastin. The event will be held on Monday, November 17, from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the UH Mānoa Campus Center (Rooms 306, 307, and 308).

A World War II Veteran, Mastin has survived three different types of cancer over the last three decades and is now a volunteer for the American Cancer Society where he works to increase awareness about the various aspects of terminal illness. He helped start and is a member of two support groups for cancer patients and their families—US TOO!, a support group for men with prostate cancer, and Make Today Count, a support group for people with cancer and other life threatening diseases and their families.

The "UH Breaking Bread Together to Make a Difference Speakers Series" was established to provide opportunities for self-improvement and to create an atmosphere of positivism at the UH Mānoa campus and throughout the larger island community.
