Shidler College of Business announces two new Executives-In-Residence

The UH Mānoa Shidler College of Business will gain two new executive-in-residence professionals this Fall in Brenda Lei Foster, former president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai, and Dr. Gregg Li, a retired professional management consultant and now an angel investor from Hong Kong.

The Shidler College of Business Executive-in-Residence Program gives students, alumni and faculty the opportunity to learn from and work with prominent business leaders. Foster and Li will serve as guest lecturers and share their experiences and knowledge with the Shidler community.

Foster served as president of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai from 2005 to 2013. She was responsible for overseeing all of the Chamber’s initiatives, as well as representing American business interests in China, the U.S., and the Asia Pacific region. Prior to that, she was president and CEO of ULU Group Ltd., a firm specializing in emerging technologies in the Asia-Pacific region. She also held executive positions as an international and national affairs adviser to the Governor of the State of Hawai‘i, director of the State of Hawai‘i’s Office of International Relations, and director of Hawai‘i’s World Affairs Council.

Li has over 30 years of governance and management consulting experience working for Aon Global Risk Consulting, American Express TRS, PricewaterhouseCoopers, and his clients have included a wide range of innovative and aggressive companies such as IBM, the World Bank and the University of Hong Kong. He is currently the Chairman of Global EFS, a hig- tech firm; Vice Chairman of BPF, which originated Hong Kong’s mini-constitution; and a visiting professor at six leading universities in Asia.

“We are fortunate to have Brenda and Gregg join our executive-in-residence program,” said Dean Vance Roley of the Shidler College of Business. “These highly successful professionals bring a wealth of global business and cultural experiences to the College that is vital to our learning community.”

Foster and Li will join former Ernst & Young Managing Partner Larry Rodriguez and former Alexander & Baldwin Chairman and CEO Allen Doane as executives-in-residence. Leading the Executive-in-Residence Program since 2006 is Robert F. Clarke, former Hawaiian Electric Industries Inc. chairman, president and CEO.
