Student pharmacists of the Class of 2016 will recite the “Oath of a Pharmacist” in front of their peers, professors, community and families at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo College of Pharmacy White Coat Ceremony, to be held on Sunday, October 14, at 2 p.m. in the UH Hilo Performing Arts Center. The event is open to the public.

The ceremony is a rite of passage into clinical practice for students entering their first year in the professional program to affirm their commitment to professionalism, respect, integrity and caring.

The Class of 2016 is the College’s sixth class of students. In addition to remarks by UH Hilo Chancellor Don Straney and College of Pharmacy Dean John M. Pezzuto, the students will be addressed by community leaders, including Senator Daniel K. Inouye's former Chief-of-Staff Pat DeLeon, Mayor Billy Kenoi and Representative Jerry Chang. Alex Evans, pharmacist-in-charge at PharMerica in Hilo, will address the first-year students.

The event is sponsored by Walgreens. Bill Hose, Walgreens marketing vice president, will make a presentation.
