TEDxManoa announces its program of speakers on October 5

The UH Manoa Library, in collaboration with Native Books, presents TEDxManoa on Friday, October 5, 2012, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Hawaii Imin International Conference Center’s Keoni Auditorium.

 

Purpose of this independently organized event, licensed by TED, is to focus on "NEW OLD WISDOM: Native Ingenuity, Knowledge and Wisdom for the 21st Century Hawaii." By applying traditional knowledge as part of the solution for issues such as sustainability, a new purpose is given to old wisdom to solve current issues [NOW].

Registration begins at 8 a.m. Any remaining tickets available may be purchased at the door before the event begins.

 

TEDxManoa will be professionally filmed and the footage uploaded to the TEDx talks Youtube Channel for global viewing in the near future. To minimize excess noise, the doors for the sessions will remain closed until the coffee breaks.

In addition to the presentations, the event will provide the opportunity for participants and speakers to network with each other at the Resource Fair downstairs on the garden level. Organizations have been invited to set up a booth to disseminate information about their programs and services, to publicize internships, collaborative initiatives, community programs, and service learning positions for high school and college students.

 

TEDxManoa is supported in part by an Ahahui Grant from the Office of Hawaiian Affairs and a community grant from Kamehameha Schools.
