TEDxManoa to feature inspirational talks by native speakers, networking

The UH Manoa Library and Native Books announce the names of presenters at TEDxMānoa, which will be held from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012, at the Hawaii International Imin Center’s Keoni Auditorium on the UH Manoa campus.

 

 

The purpose of the independently organized event, licensed by TED, is to focus on native ingenuity, knowledge and wisdom for solutions for 21st century issues in Hawai‘i.  By applying traditional knowledge as part of the solution for issues such as sustainability, a new purpose is given to old wisdom to solve current issues [NOW = New Old Wisdom].

 

Manoa is the perfect location for this event because of the wealth of learning and knowledge in the valley. It is also a gathering place to exchange ideas.

 

In addition to the presentations, the event will provide the opportunity for participants and speakers to network with each other at the Resource Fair outside of the Keoni Auditorium. Community organizations are invited to set up booths to disseminate information about their programs and services for the community.

 

Organizations are encouraged to publicize internships, collaborative initiatives, community programs and service learning positions for high school and college students.
