The University of Hawai‘i Foundation is pleased to announce that Elaine Evans has joined the UH Foundation as the director of development and alumni engagement at the John A. Burns School of Medicine (JABSOM).  In this new position, Elaine will engage JABSOM alumni and build philanthropic support among them.

For the past eight years, Elaine has served as director of development for the Hawaiʻi Theatre Center where she was responsible for all aspects of community support – special event fundraising, grant writing, corporate and individual memberships, volunteer coordination, cultivation and stewardship of major and planned gift donors, and the organization’s Sustain The Hawaiʻi capital campaign.

Elaine came to the Theatre and the non-profit sector from a career in sales and marketing – first as advertising director for Honolulu magazine and then as Hawaiʻi representative for the publishers of several national and regional magazines.

A graduate of Punahou, she completed her B.A. degree in History at Hollins University in Virginia. Elaine has been an active community volunteer for many years and has served on the boards of several professional organizations and many non-profit organizations.

Among Elaine’s proudest accomplishments are her two grown sons – Carter, a reporter for CNN in New York, and Jamie, a film editor in Los Angeles.
