The third UH Mānoa “Take Back the Night” march and rally starting at 5 p.m. today, September 21, 2011, will mark progress on campus in the fight against violence, and toward gender equity.

The march will begin at 5 p.m. at Frear Hall on Dole Street through the residence halls and end at Wainani Courtyard, then will return back to Frear Hall.   Marchers will then proceed to the Center for Hawaiian Studies for the 6 p.m. rally, speeches and performances.

“This is a celebration of our progress and of our continued dedication to safety—ending all forms of violence and promoting a culture that fully reflects women’s rights,” said organizer Fawn Jade Koopman, a student in the William S. Richardson School of Law.

“Take Back the Night” is a student-led initiative and a student-led coalition of the National Organization for Women-UH Chapter and Rape-Free Zone Coalition.
