Hawaiʻi Fresh Milk Industry establishes CTAHR scholarship
University of Hawaiʻi“We are appreciative of the endowed scholarship,” said Sylvia Yuen, interim CTAHR dean. “It is an investment in the future—a legacy from the dairy industry that will help grow and diversify Hawai‘i’s economy. Many bright and deserving students will be the beneficiaries of this generous gift.”
This scholarship endowment was made possible by the joint efforts of the Hawai‘i dairy producers on O‘ahu and the Big Island in recognition of the support given to the industry by the local community. It also builds on the dairy industry's commitment to nurturing the community.
“This scholarship will be a lasting memorial to all dairymen and Dr. Chin Lee. The dairy industry in Hawai‘i has a long standing history of supporting the community it serves,” said Edward Boteilho, Jr. president of HFMI. “Dairy farmers provided milk to soldiers and families in need during the war. They continued to support school programs in the 1980s – 1990s. This endowment by HFMI continues our educational efforts and vesting in the next generation of leaders in our community.”
