Environmentally savvy journalist and author Mindy Pennybacker will give a free public lecture on Monday, May 2, from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in Bilger Hall 152 as part of the Rhetoric for Social Justice speaker series. She will share her ideas and discuss her latest book, “Do One Green Thing: Saving the Earth Through Simple, Everyday Choices.”
 
The prolific author specializes in personal and environmental health, and in helping consumers identify truly, verifiably green products. Pennybacker is a former editor of the Honolulu Weekly, and has been published in The Nation, New York Times and Huffington Post. For 11 years, she was editor-in-chief of The Green Guide and co-founder of thegreenguide.com.
 
For the past three years at UH Mānoa, the Speech 251 “Public Speaking” course has hosted the Rhetoric for Social Justice speaker series, under the direction of Speech and Communicology Assistant Professor Robert Boller.
