KTUH, the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa‘s radio station, was recently recognized with a national award from College Broadcasters, Inc. (CBI) for producing the best public service announcement in 2002. CBI, which represents college radio stations across the country, handed out its awards for 2002 recently at its national convention in Orlando, Florida.

The award-winning public service announcement was created by UH Mānoa student and KTUH Music Director Allyson Ota, who also took first place for technical production in CBI‘s 2001 National Student Production Awards. Ota was nominated for the awards by former KTUH General Manager Lori Ann Saeki, who was named one of the nation‘s five outstanding broadcast students for 2001 by the Scripps-Howard Foundation.

Other KTUH staffers were also finalists in three other categories including Barbie Wong, Best Feature Reporting; John Goya and Loriel Macalma, Best Technical Production; and Shaun Lau, Best Student Media Website. Goya and Ota were also finalists in the "Best Public Service Announcement" category for a PSA they worked on together.

KTUH is licensed to the UH Board of Regents, who support the station as an out-of-classroom learning experience for students. KTUH‘s FM signal can be heard year-round across Oʻahu at 90.3 (Honolulu), 91.3 (North Shore), 89.7 (Hawaiʻi Kai) or via the web at http://ktuh.org.
