A UH Mānoa researcher is featured in the History Channel program “Who Really Discovered America?” The program, which aired on June 22, features oceanographer Nikolai Maximenko of the School of Ocean and Earth Science and Technology's International Pacific Research Center.

The documentary explores possible “discoveries” of the Americas before Christopher Columbus “staked his claim in 1492.”  Maximenko’s work on ocean circulation provides information about ocean currents and whether they could have helped those early seafaring voyagers.

The program will air again on Saturday, June 26, and Monday, June 28.
