Summer classes at NHERC in Honokaʻa

Registration is currently taking place for summer classes offered by North Hawaiʻi Education & Research Center in Honokaʻa, a branch of the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo.

Language arts classes include: Introduction to Japanese Conversation on Mondays and Thursdays, 6:30-8 p.m., June 7-24; and Introductory Hawaiian Language on Wednesdays, 5-6 p.m., July 14 through August 18.

Grammy winner Keoki Kahumoku will teach Hawaiian music classes on Thursdays from July 1-29. They include: Starter ‘Ukulele, 2:15-3:15 p.m.; Intermediate/Refresher ‘Ukulele, 3:45-5 p.m.; and Slack Key Guitar, 5:15-6:30 p.m.

Technology classes include: Integrating Technology in the Secondary School Curriculum on Saturday, June 26, 9 a.m.-3 p.m.; and Introduction to Word 2007 on Mondays, August 9-30, 6-7:30 p.m.

Outreach classes on Basic Grant Writing will take place on Saturday, June 12 at the Neighborhood Place of Puna and Saturday, June 19 at Waikoloa School. Both classes are 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

A special half-day class on bread making will be held Saturday, July 10, 9 a.m.-noon at Vierra Bakery in Honoka‘a.
