Lehua Writing Project youth camp to promote gardening, art and writing

The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo Lehua Writing Project is sponsoring a two-week youth camp for keiki ages 8 and older who are interested in gardening, art and writing. The camp will be held June 14-18 and June 21-25, 8 a.m. to noon at the Hilo Boys and Girls Club’s Kaiao Community Garden.

Participants will creatively explore the joy of learning in a garden, writing and art. Daily activities will include planting, weeding, and watering the garden, creative writing, journaling and exploration of Hawaiian Mythology, and garden-inspired art through painting, leaf rubbings, book and paper making and ceramics.
