The January 2010 issue of the University of Hawai‘i’s Mālamalama magazine has been posted online at http://www.hawaii.edu/malamalama.

New articles include a preview of Kennedy Theatre’s latest Beijing Opera premiere, the experience of Hawai‘i Community College alumni who interned on the set of Predators and a historic look at advertising in China, along with profiles of the Rainbow Wahine’s All-American pentathlete and the Honolulu Community College alumnus competing on TV’s Project Runway reality show.

The January issue is only available online.

“The economic situation limits the number of print issues we can distribute to alumni and supporters,” says Mālamalama Editor Cheryl Ernst. “But we also believe the added value of between-issue postings and multimedia features, such as our video highlights of Mānoa music programs and facility improvements, gives our readers reason to become e-subscribers.”

Being online also greatly expands the publication’s audience, she added.

Now in its 35th year, Mālamalama is published by the UH System’s External Affairs and University Relations office with support from the UH Alumni Association to share news about UH programs and people with UH alumni, university supporters and subscribers.
