NICAM run on Earth Simulator captures major weather disturbance
This conference brings to Honolulu international scientists who will feature their latest climate science research results. The research combines observations with cutting-edge climate models, many run on Japan's famous supercomputer, the Earth Simulator. Participants will describe the computer simulation of a large array of natural phenomena ranging from the formation of hurricanes, to the ocean currents near Hawai`i, to the winds and storms in the atmosphere of Mars. Sponsors of the conference are the International Pacific Research Center (which conducts climate research at UH) and the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology.
