Applications are currently being accepted for the Spring 2010 Distance Learning-Secondary Teacher Education Program for Success (DL-STEPS) at the University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo. The application deadline for classified students is November 21, 2009; the deadline for unclassified students is December 21, 2009.

DL-STEPS is a teacher certification program leading to licensing as a middle or high school teacher in the State of Hawaiʻi. The program is designed for post-baccalaureate students who wish to take classes online while they work full- or part-time. Students will go through six steps to complete the program, including advising, online coursework and field work.

"The education department is very pleased to offer this program to working students," said Dr. Jeannine Hirtle, who heads the DL-STEPS program. “This Web-based program provides students with high quality, integrated, inquiry- and field-based course work that will prepare them to meet the challenges of teaching in a culturally-rich, technologically-changing society.”
