UH forms advisory steering group for Cancer Research Center of Hawaii

KAUA‘I – UH President M.R.C. Greenwood announced the establishment of an advisory steering group which will be charged with advising the president on how best to facilitate and complete the actions necessary to expedite the development of the new cancer research center.
“I have made the development of the new cancer research center one of the highest priorities for the university,” stated Greenwood.
The initial members of the advisory group include: BOR Vice Chair Dennis Hirota, UH Mānoa Chancellor Virginia Hinshaw, Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Howard Todo, Vice President for Research James Gaines, Associate Vice President of Capital Improvements Brian Minaai, Dean of Medicine Jerris Hedges, Cancer Research Center Director Michele Carbone, Adjunct Professor Eric Holmes and Associate Director Kerry Kakazu. Additional members may be named in the future.
The president also announced that the university is working on the scope of services and fees for a planning consultant, the selection process for an architectural team specializing in research laboratory facilities, and will soon be advertising Request for Proposal for project management services.
