UH Manoa architecture professor named to national list of most admired educators

Raymond Yeh, a professor and former dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa‘s School of Architecture, has been named one of the nation‘s Most Admired Educators of 2009 by DesignIntelligence, the official publication of the Design Futures Council.

Yeh is among the 26 educators and education administrators in the U.S. who best exemplify excellence in design education leadership, according to DesignIntelligence. Professionals in the disciplines of architecture, interior design, industrial design, and landscape architecture were eligible for consideration.

Yeh led UH Mānoa to offer the nation‘s first, landmark professional doctorate degree in architecture with a unique Asia Pacific program focus, before leaving the deanship in 2007. When he was inducted into the College of Fellows of the American Institute of Architects in 1988, he became one of its youngest members.

Professor Yeh teaches professional practice at the UH Mānoa School of Architecture, conducts research on Higher Education and Campuses of the Future with Professor Jim Dator of the UH Mānoa Political Science Department, and directs the Yeh Studio in Honolulu.
