The Library and Information Science (LIS) Program at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa has been re-accredited until 2015 from the American Library Association (ALA) Committee on Accreditation (COA). This is the maximum period that ALA accredits for the 50+ LIS schools in North America. UHM has the only accredited LIS Program in the Pacific. The program is a master‘s program that was established in 1965 and has been continuously accredited since 1967. In 1997, the School of Library and Information Science was merged with the Department of Information and Computer Sciences. It remains the only such unique combination among accredited LIS schools.
