HONOLULU-Dr. Majid Tehranian, professor of international communications at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, has published a book titled "Reimagining the Future: Toward Democratic Governance."

"Reimagining the Future: Toward Democratic Governance" was co-authored by Joseph A. Camilleri, Kamal Malhotra, and Tehranian, and was developed from a three-year research project co-sponsored by La Trobe University in Australia, Focus on the Global South in Thailand, and Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research in Tokyo and Honolulu. It covers the historical evolution of global governance, international financial flows, and humanitarian intervention. The book is a condensed version of a longer publication titled "Democratizing Global Governance," which is being published by Palgrave Press.

According to Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali, secretary-general of Organisation Internationale de la Francophine in Paris, the authors of "Reimagining the Future: Toward Democratic Governance," "help us to formulate imaginative, yet realistic proposals for change... It is now our common responsibility to contribute to the development of this global governance concept," he said "...What is utopia today may be reality tomorrow."

Richard A. Falk, professor at the Center for International Studies at Princeton University, agrees. "Here is a global strategy developed in an Asia-Pacific setting from which we in the West can learn, including the humbling realization that others may have better answers to the dilemmas of our time," he said.
