Poet Emily Jungmin Yoon will read from her second full-length poetry collection, Find Me as the Creature I Am, at Windward Community Collegeʻs Out Loud in the Library! on Thursday, November 7, 10-11 a.m. The free event will take place in the Hale La‘akea Library, first floor. Book signing and light refreshments to follow the reading.

Emily Jungmin Yoon is a poet, translator, editor and scholar, known for her poetry collection A Cruelty Special to Our Species (2018), which won the 2019 Devil’s Kitchen Reading Award and was a finalist for the 2020 Kate Tufts Discovery Award. Her work has appeared in major publications like The New Yorker and The New York Times Magazine. Yoon has received fellowships from the Poetry Foundation and Bread Loaf Writers' Conference.

She holds an MFA from NYU and a PhD from the University of Chicago and is an assistant professor of East Asian languages and literature at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

Out Loud in the Library! celebrates its 10th anniversary of literary and music events by local artists, and is meant to inspire and encourage students to find their own creative voice through writing, reading, poetry, music, spoken word and the visual arts.
