The University of Hawaiʻi at Hilo recently recognized recipients of various UH Hilo and UH System awards at its 2024 End of Year Awards Celebration April 24 on campus. The event also recognized retired employees and faculty and staff for various years of service.

Award recipients include:

• Kerri Inglis, Professor of History, UH System Board of Regents Excellence in Teaching Award
• Jennifer Turner, Assistant Professor of Psychology, UH System Frances Davis Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Teaching
• Patsy Iwasaki, Assistant Professor of English, UH Hilo Pūlama ʻIke Award
• Nawai Makua, Campus Center, UH Hilo Student Employee of the Year
• Kevin Emmons, Associate Professor of Nursing, UH Hilo Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching
• Kananinohea Mākaʻimoku, Assistant Professor in the Kahuawaiola Indigenous Teacher Education program, UH Hilo Koichi and Taniyo Taniguchi Award for Excellence and Innovation
• Celia Bardwell-Jones, Professor of Philosophy, UH Hilo Outstanding Advisor/Mentor Award
• Richard Okamura, Building Maintenance, UH Hilo Excellence in Building and Grounds Maintenance Award
• Francis Cristobal, Junior Specialist in Computer Science, UH Hilo Excellence in Service
• Lissa Tsutsumi, Assistant Professor of Applied Agricultural Sciences, UH Hilo Distinguished Service Award for Improving Student Life
