Writers Susan M. Schultz and Gary Pak will read from their books at Windward Community Collegeʻs Out Loud in the Library! on Wednesday, April 17 from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. The free event will take place in the Hale La‘akea Library, first floor.

Susan M. Schultz will read from her book, Meditations: December 2019–December 2020, lyrical prose. Gary Pak will be reading from his poetry collection, Kewalo Blues and Echoes

Gary Pak is professor emeritus of English at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa. He has published six works of fiction; Kewalo Blues and Echoes is his first published collection of poems. His latest novel is Borderless. Besides writing, other creative passions in his life are playing jazz piano and woodblock printing.

Poet Susan Schultz is professor emeritus of English at the University of Hawai'i at Mānoa.

Her books of poetry include Aleatory Allegories (2000), And Then Something Happened (2004), Dementia Blog (2008), and other works about her mother’s battle with Alzheimer’s. She edits the journal Tinfish, which focuses on experimental writing from the Pacific. Her degrees are from Yale University and the University of Virginia.
 
Out Loud in the Library! celebrates its 10th anniversary of literary and music events by local artists, and is meant to inspire and encourage students to find their own creative voice through writing, reading, poetry, music, spoken word, and the visual arts.
