Free IT career events through Tech Days of Spring
University of HawaiʻiThe University of Hawaiʻi and the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii are sponsoring a series of free events aimed at connecting students and jobseekers with local tech companies and facilitating networking and career exploration opportunities.
Hawai‘i Tech Days of Spring 2024 is being supported by local organizations with a shared purpose to enhance Hawai‘i’s skilled IT workforce and the rising demand for local jobs in the rapidly growing tech industry.
“These events are providing students, educators and others with valuable opportunities to learn from and engage with IT employers,” said Alan Ito, UH IT workforce development and regulated policy lead. “We are grateful for the collaboration within the IT industry and their commitment to investing in workforce development initiatives that are cultivating our skilled local IT workforce and equipping our teachers with the knowledge to understand what opportunities are out there for their students.”
The Hawai‘i Tech Days of Spring 2024 kicked off in February and will continue to offer events through the end of April. Besides UH and the Chamber of Commerce Hawaii, event partners include IT Sector Partnership, CIO Council of Hawaiʻi, Cyber Hawaiʻi, Hawaiʻi Defense Alliance, Thrive HI, the Pacific Asian Center for Entrepreneurship and the Association of Computing Machinery Student Chapter.

Entrepreneurship Live
March 27, 5–7 p.m.
RISE Building, UH Mānoa
Ask questions to a panel of UH Alumni who are founders working in tech.
IT Educator Externship (Option 2)
March 28, 8:30 a.m.–2 p.m.
Held at Hawai‘i Dental Service and Hawaiian Electric Company
Educators have the opportunity to learn about careers in technology through speaking to IT executives and professionals at our larger local businesses. This externship is open to all teachers. Deadline to register is March 22.
Tech Professionals Interaction Night
April 1, 6–8 p.m.
UH Mānoa Campus Center Ballroom
This event brings together Information Technology Management Association (ITMA) and Association of Computing Machinery Student Chapter members with professionals from their area of interest to help members improve their networking skills and better foster their professional connections.
Applying for a State/County Job
April 12, 1–3 p.m.
RISE Building, UH Mānoa
Speakers from the State Department of Human Resources Development will talk through the process and requirements to apply for a State position and other representatives will speak to the types of tech jobs being offered.
