Virtual series to address reopening of Hawai‘i's tourism industry
University of Hawaiʻi at MānoaThe University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa’s Shidler College of Business Alumni Association and Travel Industry Management (TIM) International, the alumni association of the TIM School, will present a free webinar series on the reopening of Hawai‘i’s tourism industry. The webinars are designed to stimulate ideas that can be implemented by Hawai‘i businesses, tourism stakeholders, hospitality workers and the general public.
The first of seven webinars is on Tuesday, September 29, 11:30 a.m.–1 p.m. and will feature: John De Fries, Hawai‘i Tourism Authority president and CEO; Derek Kawakami, County of Kaua‘i mayor; Sherry Menor-McNamara, Chamber of Commerce Hawaii president and CEO; Pono Shim, O‘ahu Economic Development Board president and CEO; and Glenn Wakai, Hawai‘i state senator and chair of the Senate’s committee on economic development, tourism and technology. Registration is available on the Shidler College of Business website and the deadline is September 27.
The series will continue every Tuesday until November 10. Each webinar will feature a different industry topic, such as tourism, health and safety, airlines, hotels, retail, restaurants and a focus on Japan.
