How to apply to a Microbiology Graduate Program
Application deadline for fall admission is December 15
Application deadline for spring admission is August 1
- Go to Graduate Division website and read through the information on the application process, Graduate Division Admissions
- International applicants should go to this Graduate Division International Student Info
- All application material should be submitted through Graduate Division. Applications to multiple UH graduate programs are explained at the above sites.
Official undergraduate grade transcripts (and, if available, graduate transcripts) must be sent to the Graduate Division. This is explained as part of the application process in 1, above. GRE scores are not required, but can be submitted, if available, to the Graduate Division (University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa institutional code is 4867).
The Microbiology Program requires additional documents to be provided:
- Statement of Objectives – a letter stating educational and professional objectives. Although not required, it is recommended to identify potential advisor(s) from the list of Microbiology Regular of Cooperating Graduate Faculty on the Microbiology Graduate Faculty page linked here.
- CV/Resume
- Three (3) CONFIDENTIAL letters of recommendation submitted by referees directly through the Graduate Division portal. Applicants should provide email addresses during the application process and must waive their rights to access the letters. Since the letters must be confidential, any letters requested without the waiver, those submitted with the application, emailed by the applicant or when the applicant is cc’ed to the email, will be rejected by the admission committee.
