MovieTalk segments
“MovieTalk” involves using an image or a videoclip that doesn’t have much (or any) dialogue, to provide the background visuals for “talking over” it, using language you want the students to hear. The narration can be provided by the teacher or eventually by the students.
• Opening scene of Ang Lee’s Eat Drink Man Woman (1995), with labels for cooking techniques such as 蒸、炸、燉、紅燒 and 切片. 3.20 minutes.
• Simon’s Cat: The Box. All the Simon’s Cat videos can be used for MovieTalk. In the following segment, for example, you could introduce language about location 在裡面，在外面，在上面，在下面 and direction of movement 跳進去，跳出來。2.06 minutes.
• How to make 煎饼果子, in images. Each image could produce just a word or phrase or a whole paragraph.
• This viral video shows a distracted young woman eating noodles. Have fun narrating the event!

The YouTube channel Little Fox Chinese has stories and songs for learners. The following is one example.
• My finger family 手指家庭. Teaches 爸爸、妈妈、哥哥、妹妹、and 宝宝 using a tune that will stick in your head. 2.02 minutes.
• Father Fox. A story about a fox and kindly pigs, with running illustrations. 6.52 minutes
