Symposium Accepted at APS 2016!

Congrats to Kristin Pauker, Ashley Biddle, and Cara Bellwood for the acceptance of their symposium entitled, “Let’s (Not?) Talk About Race: Social Transmission of Racial Bias in Parent-Child Interaction” at the 2016 Association for Psychological Science conference!

Along with Nicole Summers (Saint Louis University), Julie Milligan Hughes (College of New Jersey), Meaghan M. Patterson (University of Kansas), and Erin Pahlke (Whitman College) the presenters will address how racial attitudes are passed from parent to child. They will discuss how mothers transmit inaccurate knowledge about Islam, how parents’ non-verbal intergroup anxiety affects children’s intergroup attitudes, and how parental racial socialization affects adolescents’ motivation to suppress bias.
