Darren Sana graduated from the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa with a Bachelor of Arts and Sciences in both Photography and Philippine Language and Literature, major in Filipino. He holds a Master of Education from Chaminade University.

He has served as a Katipunan Club officer as a Historian and as an undergraduate he has been connected to the Filipino community in many ways. During the summer he volunteered in the FIL4Kids Program at the Filipino Community Center in Waipahu. In his last semester at UHM he co-founded Himig ng Katipunan, a group aimed to help Filipino language learners, and performs at various Filipino community events. He now works as a Special Education teacher at Wai’anae High School.

At UH Mānoa, he teaches IP courses like Philippine Food, Music and Rituals and Philippine Literature in English.
