Monitor Your Email for Updates on Your Application

Applications will be sorted based on the prioritization criteria set by the UH Board of Regents.

Housing offers will be sent out in batches to hawaii.edu email addresses starting in late April from uhmsh@hawaii.edu. To ensure delivery, add this email to your contacts to prevent it from being marked as spam.

Students that do not receive a housing offer will automatically be placed on a waitlist that follows the prioritization criteria. We strongly encourage those still on the waitlist to explore UH-affiliated housing and off-campus options, and have a contingency plan in place.

Secure Your Housing & Next Steps

Prospective residents that receive an offer for on-campus housing must promptly return a signed housing contract and remit a $400, non-refundable reservation fee within the deadline stated in the housing offer.

After submitting your signed contract and remitting your $400 reservation fee, please allow a few business days for your Fall housing charges and reservation fee payment to be posted to your MyUH account. To ensure proper credit, you may utilize the Line Payment method to pay for your remaining Fall housing rent and meal plan charges at https://go.hawaii.edu/gTy. Please note that Spring housing rent and meal plan charges will be posted to your MyUH account in November of 2025.

If you are unable to submit full payment, you are also encouraged to sign up for the University’s payment plan.

IMPORTANT: Please be prepared to respond to your housing offer when it arrives. If you are relying on financial aid to help cover your housing costs, please apply as early as possible. Failure to return a housing contract and remit the non-refundable $400 deposit will result in cancellation of your assignment offer. If you’re still interested in on-campus accommodations, you will need to reapply and you will be placed at the bottom of the waitlist.

Frequently Asked Questions

General FAQ

Student Housing inventory is very limited and room availability is not guaranteed.  How applications are prioritized can be found at https://manoa.hawaii.edu/housing/housing_priorities. While SHS attempts to house all interested current and returning UHM students, there is not enough space on campus to do so.  SHS will make rolling offers throughout the spring and summer as additional spaces become available.

No, students who currently live on-campus do not have priority over other students for housing the following year. How SHS establishes priority can be found at https://manoa.hawaii.edu/housing/housing_priorities.

No, SHS will not have a renewal process for housing this year. Instead, all interested applicants must apply by the assigned deadlines and all applicants will be prioritized based on the criteria at https://manoa.hawaii.edu/housing/housing_priorities.

Each applicant must indicate on their application the UH ID number of the individual/s they would like to room with.  All parties wanting to be placed together must do the same.  Additionally we recommend that interested roommates also indicate the same building preferences on their application.  Please keep in mind that roommate/suitemate/apartment mate requests cannot be guaranteed.

We expect to begin offering contracts to Current & Returning UHM housing applicants during the second week of April. All those who are not initially offered a contract will be placed on a waitlist. We will continue making contract offers on a rolling basis throughout the remainder of spring and summer.

Waitlist FAQ

If you’ve been placed on a waitlist, you may have some questions about what to expect. Check out the FAQ below. If you still can’t find what you’re looking for, call us at (808) 956-8177 or email uhmsh@hawaii.edu.

Unfortunately, not everyone who is placed on the housing waitlist will receive an offer to live on-campus. Over 20,000 students attend UH Mānoa each year and there are approximately 3,100 beds for students to reside in Student Housing. Students on the waitlist are encouraged to explore alternative housing options if they are unable to wait for an opening.

While we are unable to disclose a specific number on the waitlist due to a number of variables implicit in the assignment process, we are able to communicate which application priority group is currently under review and offers are being extended for. This information will be provided on the top section of the Academic Year Application page starting in at the end of May.

Applicants who are waitlisted when the initial round of housing offers are extended will receive notification in mid-April. If space becomes available, waitlisted individuals will receive housing offers on a rolling basis throughout the summer, based on priority criteria established by the University of Hawaiʻi Board of Regents. Students on the waitlist are encouraged to explore alternative housing options if they are unable to wait for an opening.

Yes, there are several options for alternate housing available to UHM students. These can be found at https://www.hawaii.edu/housing/.

If your preferred roommate gets an offer letter, you can both submit a request to uhmsh@hawaii.edu to request to live together. SHS will try to accommodate this request, however, this cannot be guaranteed.
