Attending HARDI 2023 was an unforgettable experience for me. HARDI 2023 gave student attendees the chance to learn about a wide range of fields in accounting research and engage in discussions with fellow students who share similar research interests. With the extensive interaction with world-class scholars and active intellectual exchanges with fellow students in three weeks, I developed new actionable research ideas and gained more insights into my existing research projects. This was definitely one of the most enriching doctor consortiums that I have ever attended. Plus, I would like to express my appreciation for the hosts, Hamid and Boochun! They were incredibly warm and supportive towards the students, making our stay extremely enjoyable. I highly recommend HARDI to potential attendees!

I knew coming in that HARDI was a really unique opportunity, given its length and relatively small cohort. I was able to create meaningful connections and friendships with students and faculty over the course of 20 days, learn from students and faculty, develop my own research with a fresh perspective, and explore Hawaii! HARDI is truly a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

For the applicants for HARDI 2024, I would like to say that I have no doubt that that HARDI is the most influential PhD consortium which is a reason enough to apply for this program. I was able to develop and exchange latest and interesting research ideas regarding a wide range of fields, as well as gain insights from distinguished professors and outstanding future research colleagues. Including me, any doctoral student would want to get advice from editors of top journals, and HARDI provides that. In addition, meeting other doctoral candidates from prestigious schools and building a long-lasting research network provided me with the great opportunity to find a research partner. I hope that many other enthusiastic and promising students will also apply for this program and have this valuable experience.

As a PhD student, I strongly believe that meeting new people and exchanging ideas is an important part of becoming a better researcher. It is very hard to describe the HARDI experience in words. HARDI lets you spend 3 weeks in Hawaii, learn from some of the best faculty in our field, etc. All this sounds great, but most importantly, you get to do all this with some of the nicest and smartest PhDs from around the world. My only complaint with HARDI is you only get to do it once.

Not only do students learn from some of the leading researchers in the world, but Hamid and Boochun go the extra mile in making sure we feel not only comfortable but truly welcome in Hawaii. However, what makes HARDI stand out from all other conferences is the camaraderie and intimacy among students.
