Waqar Ali

Waqar is a Ph.D. candidate at INSEAD (France). His research interests focus on the real effects of accounting choice. He is particularly interested in accounting for financial risk management, and revenue recognition. Prior to joining INSEAD, Waqar worked at PwC London (UK) and Grant Thornton London (UK). He is a chartered accountant from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England and Wales (ICAEW).

Suzanne Burzillo

Suzanne is a 3rd year PhD Candidate at the University of Southern California. Her research interests include ESG, M&A, non-financial
practice. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities and baking.

Stephanie Dong

Stephanie is a third-year Ph.D. student at New York University. Her research interests include disclosure, blockchain, capital markets, real effects of accounting information, and executive compensation. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, skiing, and playing racquet sports.

Russell (Jong Won) Han

Russell Han is a 4th-year Ph.D. student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Prior to joining the Ph.D. Program, Russell worked as an associate at Samjong KPMG of South Korea. Russell’s main research interests are in corporate social responsibility disclosures, managerial performance evaluation, the use of accounting information in capital financing, and the informativeness of stakeholder-related disclosures. Russell enjoys music as well as working out.

Matthew Hinton

Matthew is a Ph.D. candidate at the University of Hawaii at Manoa with a concentration in financial accounting. He is a CPA with taxation work experience. Matthew’s research interests include Financial Accounting, Accounting Information Systems, Auditing, and Tax.

Cameron Holstead

Cameron is a 4th year Ph.D. candidate at the University of Texas at Dallas. His research interests include information intermediaries, disclosure, SEC enforcement, and textual analysis. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, Cameron worked as a licensed CPA in Texas. In his free time, Cameron enjoys traveling, listening to podcasts, and watching football.

Sumair Hussain

Sumair is a 2nd year Ph.D. student at Copenhagen Business School. His research interests include international accounting, disclosures, and taxation. In his spare time, Sumair enjoys reading, watching anime, and collecting figures.

Chao Jin

Chao is a 4th year Ph.D. student at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. Her research interest is in the field of empirical financial accounting with a focus on debt contracting.

Jaekon (Jae) Jung

Jaekon is a second-year Ph.D. student at the University of Hawaii at Manoa. His research interests include financial accounting, disclosure, and technology in accounting. In his free time, he enjoys hiking and playing soccer.

Dimitris Kanelis

Dimitris is a 4th year Ph.D. student at Lancaster University Management School. His research interests include capital market communication, corporate disclosures, and information intermediaries’ risk perceptions. He has worked as an executive compensation analyst in London and enjoys coffee and cycling.

Justin Kim

Justin is a 4th year Ph.D. student at the University of Florida. His research interest primarily lies in corporate taxation and its financial and nonfinancial implications. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, Justin worked as a tax professional at Deloitte.

Wonhyeong Kim

Wonhyeong is a second-year Ph.D. student at the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). He received his bachelor’s degree majoring in mathematics and minoring in biology at KAIST. His research interests include disclosure, textual analysis, earnings quality, and accounting information in the supply-chain relationships. In his spare time, he enjoys playing baseball, traveling, and reading history books.

Yifei Kuang

Yifei is a 3rd year Ph.D. student at the University of Waterloo. His research interests include financial and non-financial disclosure, ESG, corporate governance, and compensation.

Xue Li

Xue is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Washington. Her research interests include information intermediaries, ESG, and corporate misconduct. She is a CPA with work experience at Notre Dame’s Office of Financial Planning. In her free time, Xue enjoys stand-up comedy and true crime podcasts.

Junhao Liu

Junhao is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Toronto. His research interests include disclosure, valuation, and market microstructure.

Yifei Lu

Yifei is a 5th year Ph.D. student at the University of Rochester. His research interests include compensation disclosure, political risk, textual analysis, and IPOs.

Kendall Lynch

Kendall is a third-year Ph.D. student at the University of Michigan. Her research interests include corporate governance, ESG, disclosure, corporate misconduct, and standard-setting. She is a CPA with prior work experience at the SEC, FASB, and Deloitte & Touche, LLP.

Sunyoung (Annie) Park

Annie is a Ph.D. candidate at Seoul National University. Prior to joining the Ph.D. program, she worked as a Transfer Pricing Consultant at KPMG Korea.

Erdong Wang

Erdong is a 3rd-year Ph.D. candidate at Rutgers University. His primary research interest lies in CSR, and more specifically, environmental accounting and environmental finance. He is a CFA level II candidate with prior internship experience at Minmetals & Jingyi Futures Co., Ltd and Shenwan Hongyuan Securities Co., Ltd. During his spare time; he loves playing tennis and skiing.

Jiexuan Wang

Shirley is a Ph.D. candidate at the National University of Singapore. Her research interests lie at the intersection of auditing and labor. Other research experiences involve the stock trading behaviors of individual investors and the commuting behaviors of employees in listed firms. She is also an SAP Certified Application Associate.

Yuxia Zou

Yuxia is a fourth-year Ph.D. candidate at the University of Cambridge, Judge Business School. Her research interests are in the intersection of managerial and financial accounting, focusing on corporate sustainability issues. In her free time, Yuxia enjoys playing Guzheng and fitness training, especially boxing and pilates.
