UHM Academic Units

Graduate Division takes the initiative to work with UHM departments who intend to create a 3+2 program. There is a designated 3+2 Program Coordinator available for providing assistance as follows:

  • Providing and preparing the General MOU and the 3+2 program MOA.
  • Running the agreements through the approval process.
  • Collecting signatures from UH President and UHM academic Deans and program chairs.

Steps of Creating a 3+2 Program

Step One:

  • It is essential to have a qualified partner institution overseas. The 3+2 Program Coordinator could provide help on verifying if the institution you will partner with offers qualified education in your field.
  • Communicate with your Dean and make sure relevant resources are allocated for you to manage the 3+2 program.
  • Look through the 3+2 MOA template, and work with 3+2 Program Coordinator to prepare the 3+2 MOA draft.

Step Two:

  • Graduate Division will submit the 3+2 MOA draft to the Office of Export Control, the Office of Vice President of Academic Planning and Policy for approval.
  • Once the MOA draft is approved, Graduate Division will produce official MOA and prepare Signature Request Memo to the President’s Office. Deans and Program Chairs will be copied in the Memo.

Step Three:

  • Graduate Division will host regular 3+2 Program Info workshops to help with program recruitment.
