Further Investigations: Tide Formation—Tide Height

  1. Predict where amphidromic points might be located around globe. Look up actual locations of amphidromic points. Are any of these locations near where you predicted they would be?
     
  2. Identify areas with low tidal ranges, such as Hawai‘i. Are any of these locations near amphidromic points?
     
  3. Research the “wet moon.”
    1. What phase is the moon in when it is a “wet moon”?
    2. Explain the phenomenon of the “wet moon” in terms of the movement and position of the earth around the sun and of the moon around the earth. 
    3. Where can you observe a wet moon?
