ROOTED in Ag LogoROOTED in Agriculture (Respecting Our Origins in Technology through EDucation in Agriculture) engages 9th-12th graders to explore agri-science through an historical lens to see the development of technology in agriculture while making connections to local cultural practices.

The technology-focused learning experiences will provide youth with understanding of precision agriculture and the technology of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV), automation, robotics, gene editing, data science, and virtual reality (VR) and be delivered within the larger context of food systems and local agriculture.

The project is a joint collaboration with the University of Hawaii, University of Alaska, and University of Nebraska.

This site will provide links to the ARC GIS storymaps created to support the virtual reality (VR) tours in the program. Teachers are encouraged to present VR tours to students through the networked goggle kits and provide breaks between scenes to share the storymaps as a guided discussion. More details are found in the Teacher’s Guide provided with the borrowed equipment.
