A new, revised, and updated edition of A History of Hawai‘i (3rd edition) published by CRDG will be available in 2016. This comprehensive account of Hawai‘i’s history includes primary documents, political cartoons, stories and poems, graphs, a glossary, maps, timelines, and activities fostering critical thinking. The new text includes greatly expanded coverage of Hawaiian cultural and political movements throughout the twentieth century, including the Mālama Honua Worldwide Voyage and biographies of many cultural practitioners. Coverage goes up to 2016, with sections on current economic and social issues including education, homelessness, and rail development as well as sovereignty and the con ict over the TMT, among other topics.
(CRDG) Summer Programs continues its commitment of over forty years of summer education, exploration, and adventure. Students entering grades 1–12 discover what it takes to be scientists conducting research in the laboratory and field; engineers designing and building solutions to real world problems; conservationists working to protect the natural resources of the ‘āina; artists, writers, and designers exploring their creativity; or playwrights and actors producing and starring in an original stage production. Inquiry-based instruction and hands-on learning in the classroom, laboratory, field, and theater are the cornerstones for all of our courses. Classes are led by a highly qualified staff of teachers and teacher assistants to insure a safe learning environment where students are able to immerse themselves in their work and come to their own “A-HA!” moments.
We look forward to seeing you at the event!
