Older adults have quality community support and health services.

Vision

We envision a community and health care system that is prepared for the growing needs of a rapidly aging population.

Our community will promote healthy behaviors and active lives for persons of all ages.

Our health care system will integrate community support and health services that offer a full continuum of care for people to “age in place.”

Goals

Long-term services and supports (LTSS) are accessible and available.

Health services are accessible and available.
3.
Education and public awareness on healthy aging, elder care, and safety are widely available.
4.
Older adults are safe from abuse and neglect.
5.
Public emergency and disaster planning accounts for older adults.

Measure 1: Health care coverage
(including health insurance, prepaid plans such as HMOs, or government plans)

Over 99% of older adults (55+) in Honolulu County reported having health care coverage.
The percentage of older adults (55+) in Honolulu County that reported having health care coverage were similar by sex.
The percentage of older adults (55+) in Honolulu County that reported having health care coverage was above 99% across all age groups.
The percentage of older adults (55+) in Honolulu County that reported having health care coverage was above 96% across all race/ethnicities (2022).

Females 55+ in Honolulu County are slightly more likely to report having a personal health care provider compared to males.

In 2022, 7.7% of older adults (55+) in Honolulu County reported that they receive benefits from the Food Stamp Program or SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) in the past 12 months.
In 2022, 8.5% of female and 6.8% of male older adults (55+) in Honolulu County reported that they receive benefits from the Food Stamp Program or SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) in the past 12 months.
