CARE Research Registry
The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa COA is embarking on a multi-year project in collaboration with researchers at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF), the University of California Irvine (UCI), and other institutions to help increase the number of Asian Americans, Native Hawaiians, and Pacific Islanders (AANHPI) who participate in scientific research studies on aging. This NIA-funded project called CARE, (Collaborative Approach for AANHPI Research and Education) has expanded to its next phase known as CARE 2.0 and is based at the UCSF.
COA will head the CARE 2.0 team in Hawaii aimed at partnering with community organizations, key stakeholders and cultural informants to explain the value of scientific research in aging, convey importance of having diverse research participation, and elevate culturally appropriate models of research and engagement. COA will also offer educational resources to the AANHPI communities in Hawaii to enhance access to information about healthy aging such as tips for maintaining brain health and support services for caregivers and people living with dementia.
If you or anyone you know in the AANHPI community is interested
in learning more about CARE 2.0 and enrolling in the registry,

**Enrolling in the registry does not necessarily mean you will be selected to participate in a study. You will be contacted only if you are determined by researchers to be a good candidate for a particular study. Once on the registry, community members may be contacted by researchers studying brain health, caregiving, and other aging-related issues. The nature of participation may vary from study to study. Prospective participants will have the option to decline participation after learning more about the project and what role they are expected to play.
