Alycia (she/her/hers) was born and raised on the island of Maui and descends from the
indigenous identities of Ilokano (of which she is fluent in the language of) and
Uchinanchu. She has her AA in Liberal Arts from UH Maui College, and a BA in
Psychology with a minor in Sociology from UH Mānoa. Alycia continued her studies at
UH Mānoa to receive her MA in Educational Administration with an emphasis on Higher
Education. Prior to her current role with CALL, Alycia served marginalized populations
on Maui for nearly a decade as an education specialist, labor specialist, and through
community advocacy work with Filipina/x organizations.
Alycia enjoys music and often finds herself at concerts and festivals; a few notable acts
that she has seen include Beyonce, K-pop sensation BTS, and has even attended
Coachella. Alycia also loves to travel and experience new cultures and cuisines, which
has brought her to visit Thailand, Spain, China, the Philippines, and more.
